Using Elixir-coated strings offers several advantages. Metal strings are susceptible to corrosion from the acid in your fingers and moisture in the environment, and can quickly start to rust. In addition, oil, sweat, and dead skin cells often build up between the windings, which hinders the string's vibration and causes the string to sound dull.
Elixir strings feature a thin fluoropolymer coating that acts as a protective barrier between the string and the environment. This coating ensures the string retains its bright tone, even after prolonged use, while maintaining the string's playability. The result is a set of strings with a longer lifespan and a consistent tone, meaning you spend less time changing strings and more time playing your guitar.
